The Watchtower belief is that fibbing to save a life is not the same as lying to maliciously hurt someone. That wouldn't sound so illogical or abusive, but it is used as part of "Theocratic Warfare" by them a whole whole lot. Relatively few rank-and-file know this but probably 75% of elders do and regularly use it in one fashion or another on the rank-and-file. The highers up do so even more. Jerry Bergman and a German writer jointly have commented on this in a German work which translated, I think, was called Theocratic Warfare. They surveyed former elders, POs, COs, and found the higher up the ladder they went the greater the percentage who use TW.

if anyone has read the study articles...exactly what did you think?

my take on the matter: all of the "great crowd of other sheep" are now being equated to the 'foreigners' of isaiah's prophesy.the 'gb' now thinks they are actually zion instead of being sons of zion which explains their thinking they are the "mother" and not the sons.but they are also the sons of zion....or earthly sons...but also zion...but wtf?if the gb are = to zion which is = to jah's woman, then they actually think they are = to jah...and are not the bride of christ (son) but have the audacity to think they could be the bride of jah (father).a reiteration of the 1919 stupid thing runs rampant throughout the article....can't we just stop with the dates fellas?!!

!they think they (gb) have been repurchased by jah .... not by christ and his blood who is supposed to be thier husbandly ownerthey try and rationalise why the congregational election of elders stopped...instead of telling the truth of why it stopped.. i have come to the conclusion that the gb does not acknowledge anything christ did, nor the fact that the 'annointed' are suposed to make up the 'bride of christ'.

When Rutherford was alive smoking was not a disfellowshipping matter so he may indeed have been a smoker. It would be intersting to know.

That they equate organization, even themselves, to Jehovah is correct. They are probably going to float this view openly a while, and if too many protest letters don't pour in then continue to openly keep it.

If they do pour in, then they will still believe it but put in writing something that seems to say they don't really believe that way even though they do.

The shift to organization-is-Jah idea became most clear under Henschel. It's an example of arrogance.

Even when most JWs read it writing their minds will not allow them to believe that what they read really means exactly what it says. They'll try to rationalize it away.

ALERT ON BLOOD REFUSAL CASE/ALBERTA/SHUNNED FATHER

as all should be aware, lawrence hughes daughter has leukemia and is in the 4th and final stage of treatment.

the jws are still fighting to have the daughter declared an adult instead of a minor so she can kill herself instead of receiving a life saving blood transfusion.

now lawrence's lawyer refuses to help anymore even though 1 case is on appeal at the supreme court and a second trial is starting in alberta on monday june 17, 2002. .

The lawyer, Mr Calvert, wrote back in reply as seen below. And we

are asking him to visit the board here and feel free to comment if time

and inclination permit. The publicity from all this could, if handled

right, win his firm a lot of money. What he wrote is so obviously of

enormously compelling interest to our community of exJWs, JWs and Friends,

but also the major Media and public in general, that we are posting that

reply which he so freely gave us right here for all to see as well as this

reply.

So to begin, greetings and the best to you, Mr Calvert, although you certainly

did surprised us, with that short but quick reply, sir. We say surprised

because despite the tone of what was written, you actually wrote back that

Free Christians are not to be "trying to threaten" when for one thing, if

in fact, if you will but re-read the material, you will find the tone and

content are intended anything but that way. If you do re-read it and still

disagree about that then please let us know here. A convenient copy of what was emailed

you for is in the thread here farther below.

It was also surprising to us when you said be sure accurate info is disseminated

since that is an obvious given, and all that anyone would ever have to disseminate.

At that, as you will also notice by reading the thread here, your own words with

you own views or information were already in put into print by some other

person and appear to have already fully corresponded with your email to ourselves too.

Thus, it may be you had not yet read this thread so have had a misunderstanding.

Further to show you that every effort has been made to be of nothing but good

will, note that after your final actions are known as to if you will or will

not continue with the case, thus fully representing L Hughes or not for the full

course will by any number of alternative sources become fully known quickly

via the internet - not at all just the Free Christians News newsletter. No, we

ourselves need not even say a word and yet your own sense of logic says everyone

from Calgary to Timbuktu will know about it. So be totally relaxed insofar as

ourselves, although it is obviously also true, isn't it, that we can not predict

what others will be saying. So please do re-read what was actually written rather than

possibly jumping to conclusions, and in so doing look at actual content rather than

seeking after "sub-surface" suppostions that you might image are not of good will.

We point out and intended to point out, although it may be a bitter-seeming pill

once informed by any number of various sources, readers will themselves naturally

determine if or not your decision(s) about this case directly affect in a positive

or negative fashion whether or L Hughes' daughter and other children get to live.

Due to such interest people from Calvary to Timbuktu will be making up their own minds.

you yourself and your colleagues agree? Ask them. Keep them, all of them, fully

informed! And think about this. In just a few month's of work you have billed L Hughes

$80,000 but he has in that same period of time come up with $8,000, i.e. 10%. At

that rate You would get the other $72,000 back within just a few years. Being in the U.S.

True, I don't know about Canada, but here there pro-bono work can be written off as a tax

deduction. Even from the monetary view, sticking with L Hughes is logical, and I wonder

these positive points have been gone over by you with all of your associates there at the firm.

If they but knew some of these considerations, the degree of publicity attending to this case,

why, I would be amazed if they did not also encourage you to reconsider!

We sincerely hope, Mr Calvert, that this lengthy reply is coming across to you and indeed all

readers as trying to be not in the least bit "threatening" but actually nothing but

realistic, reasonable and courteous, if a little pointed.

Yes, the media exposure You folks are going to get is worth a million dollars or

even more. You did notice, didn't you, that the original email commended you and

your business for helping L Hughes 95% of the way which is an "A" (=excellent)

rating in the U.S.? Surely that was kind of us to point out. If you feel to the

contrary, why not correct it here at once. No doubt your schedule is hectic at

times and so there may be a little tendency on a Friday evening to gloss over what

was actually written, quickly interpret or even misinterpreted it, and then

rush off an email that seems somewhat more defensive than need be. Sometimes

misperceptions can also be from poor communications due to rushing the process.

If you or those with whom you practice prefer not to respond, that's okay too.

As said, we all realize you are busy along with those colleagues helping those in

need, paying your and their bills etc. Too, even if you don't respond, well, others

surely will, and if not now then later. The Free Christians community will be watching

the news about this incredibly important, precedent-setting case most keenly even as

will people across Canada now and into the distant future. We want all your law

firm partners to know that; so please let them know and in fact see this letter.

Dear Mr Calvert,

Emailing you from the United States, we want you and your entire legal firm to know that we are fully informed via internet posting that you "so far" refuse to go the final mile to save Lawrence Hughe's daughters life, dumping it off near the end out of monetary considerations. And this same information is going to not just ourselves but instantly to thousands of other readers and those to whom they pass along the information.

This is very saddening, and seems unwise in that word of it will certainly go to those in your community now and in the future, and they will see it as a reflection that your entire legal firm may not be relied upon.

Therefore please reconsider, and do your final duty and whole-heartedly at that so as to restore everyone's confidence in not just yourself but, as said, those working with you at the legal firm in Calgary.
Doubtlessly your peers in the legal profession and political establishment across Canada would expect no less of you for to do otherwise would not speak well of the justice system in general.

So, much is riding upon how you finally dispose of this matter. To further convince you and those with you as to the singular importance of this, you will find part of a list of emails for "movers and shakers" in church groups throughout the U.S. and, yes, to some extent in Canada.

Via those groups millions of their followers may be notified also. Those of us in "The Free Christians movement" have helped battle long and hard against the Watchtower Society's coverup abetting pedophilia and other misdeeds including wrongful deaths such as dealt with in this case.

Locally, right there in Calgary, your disposition of this case is also most relevant. The internet also ready access to emails and websites addresses of businesses and individuals there too so that all may be appraised on such matters.

We prefer to believe that you and those with you will do the right thing, though, not just because of what any others might think, but simply because you and your colleagues truly do care. After all, you would not have gone 95% of the way with Lawrence as you already have if you did not care at least 95%, isn't that right?! Therefore I close sending our sincere best wishes in your efforts to help keep not only save the life of Lawrence's daughter but that of other children and grandchildren who will be impacted by this truly precedent setting case long into the future.

JW Family Tries Black-Mailing Me

i have spent the last week or so with my sister and bro-in-law and my 6year old niece, all jws.

they live in a town not too far away from me, and i visit them every couple of months or so.

my sister and i are close, not extremely so, but we appreciate each other as we have no other bros & sisters, our mother died 21yrs ago, and our father treats us as though we are dead too (due to non-jw issues).. last time i went to visit them, my bro-in-law asked my niece to ask me if i'd go to the meeting.

Your best defence is a good offense. Send them a letter in the mail

informing about the pedophile coverup, UN affiliation etc. In it mention

it's going to lots of other people around there too. To take the heat

off yourself send it to not just them but some other people they also

know. And one to yourself. If they ask if you sent it to them say "do

you mean you got this too?" and hold it up. Wait a month, send another

letter but in a different-looking envelope. Keep seeding and watering lovingly

with the real truth. It can liberate lots of people and save lives. Even those

who don't quit the WTS may at least contribute less of their money and time

to the the WTS, idolize its dictators less. See? Believe me, this works.

The Bible does say, the (real) Truth will set you free!

Don't try to confuse things, "Been There." This is a case of harassment

that ended in death. It clearly said 14 year old Elon not 14 year old Elder.

Nor is this the only such incident. The Watchtower Society and its policies

on "refining of the flock," bleeding deaths and sexual molestation have resulted

in many many other deaths.

Legal Question: How Strong is Barbara's Case?

a question for the legal beagles out there:.

since the watchtower thugs have told the press during the dateline repartee that barbara anderson was not being taken to task for her anti-molestation iniitatives, but alleged that she was being tried for ``allegations or serious sins'' unrelated to her activism, how strong a case would she have in court?.

bear in mind that barbara and the others of the dateline four say they did nothing more than speak for the protection of children and then publicly challenged the wt to publicly state their accusations and evidence, and that they would indemnify them against any charges arising therefrom.. so.... if they call her a sinner, say that her sin has nothing to do with whistle-blowing and is serious enough to merit expulsion -- as serious as adultery or theft, yet refuse to accept her challenge to show the world the basis of their charges if they are held harmless, how is that not libel and therefore actionable?
